Yarnarchy is Christchurch’s colorful yarn bombing festival, running from 30 August to 21 September 2025. It’s part of the Place of Play initiative by Gap Filler, and it turns everyday city spaces—like benches, bollards, and bridges—into playful art using knitted and crocheted creations. The festival celebrates creativity, community, and fun, inviting people to explore the city in a new way. Whether you’re a maker or a viewer, Yarnarchy brings warmth and whimsy to urban life, encouraging everyone to enjoy and interact with public spaces.
Jolt will be bringing Yarnarchy to life with unique choreography and outfits created by Yarnarchists Sally, Salvo and Lynne. Outside the Incubator, 110 Cashell Street.
Yarnarchy Jolt Performance
- Saturday 30 August 11.30am-12.30pm
- Saturday 6 September 11.30am-12.30pm
Multiple performances will happen during this time if we are taking a short break pop into the Incubator @ 110 Cashell Street and say Kia ora.
Big thanks to the Isaac Theatre Royal for hosting all our rehearsals for this project and to Christchurch Creative Communities for supporting this work.
