Hōhepa Canterbury Inclusive Sports Day

Hōhepa Canterbury, in partnership with Christchurch City Council, are holding an Inclusive Sports Day at Spencer Park on Friday 6th March 2026. Make sure you save the date as this is set to be another fantastic occasion! Canterbury Cricket, Canterbury Hockey, Christchurch Netball Centre, Canterbury Pickleball, Canterbury Blokarts and more will be there to showcase their codes.

Purpose of event:

What we offer at the Inclusive Sports Day is an opportunity for people with disabilities in the Canterbury region to experience a range of different sports and their associations with the aim that this will support their long-term engagement in the codes.

What to expect on the day:

Participating sport clubs and associations set up activation stations across Spencer Park for attendees to give a go in a free-flowing, expo type of fashion. These activations run from 10am-12pm with attendees roaming throughout the park and engaging with the stations in whatever order they choose – no designated groups or rotations necessary. From about 12pm-1pm, Hōhepa Canterbury will provide a free sausage sizzle for attendees and sport exhibitors, then from 1pm-2pm larger team games will form for everybody to participate in. At 2pm, pack down of the event will take place.

This is a free event and a great way to try some different sports and have a fun day out!
