The Lamar Room is part of three Centres that are all situated at Hoon Hay. Welcome to our sunny little corner where we endeavour to support, encourage and make our service users’ time at the Centre, a fun and educating time!

In 2005 The Chris Ruth Centre relocated to the old Hoon Hay Working Mens Club with only twenty-two people. At the beginning of 2016 we purchased this property with the support of the Lamar Trust and the Rātā Foundation. We now have three centres establish on this site and cater for over sixty people.

  The Lamar Room- Out and about in the city5 Nov 2025
  The Chris Ruth Centre received funding this year from the Roy Owen Dixey Trust for activities and experiences for each CRC Centre to take out the people we support.   Best Dressed for Book Character Day!24 Jul 2025
  The Lamar Room had a book character dress up day at the centre, with the people we support dressing up as their favourite book character. The winner for best dressed was Charlotte with her dress up as the train conductor from Thomas the Tank Engine. Ka pai Charlotte, great effort!

  The Lamar room at Hoon Hay have been busy since returning from Christmas break and making the most of the fine days, exploring the community, visiting local parks, walks at Deans Bush, and the Sign of the Kiwi.
