The Lamar Room is part of three Centres that are all situated at Hoon Hay. Welcome to our sunny little corner where we endeavour to support, encourage and make our service users’ time at the Centre, a fun and educating time!
In 2005 The Chris Ruth Centre relocated to the old Hoon Hay Working Mens Club with only twenty-two people. At the beginning of 2016 we purchased this property with the support of the Lamar Trust and the Rātā Foundation. We now have three centres establish on this site and cater for over sixty people.

- Ice Skating
Isaak went ice skating recently with his friends. Adam (man with the hat) introduced himself and offered to take Isaak around the arena a few times. Isaak appeared to have a wonderful time, Adam as offered to meet up with him again at ices skating for another round of speed and fun. - New friends
This lovely lady introduced herself to Melissa as Jenny. Melissa had just finished her work placement at Paper Plus Hornby. They had a lovely chat about the things Melissa likes. Jenny asked Melissa if she would like a coffee? “Melissa replied yes please” Jenny purchased Melissa a coffee and they parted as new found friends.
