Mātauranga Māori & Circus Arts 2026

Come join us for a free, inclusive and accessible community celebration of play, connection and creativity held at Ngā Hau e Whā National Marae – 250 Pages Rd.

Kanohi Kitea is a Circability initiative creating a space where Māori tākaro, whare tapere and circus arts meet and merge through the shared ingredients of kōrero, kai, movement, play and community.

Open to all ages, abilities and cultures, this is a chance to come along, have a play, learn something new, share kai and experience the joy of doing things together.

From 11am, enjoy:

Pōwhiri to open the gathering

Wānanga and circus workshops

Māori tākaro / traditional games

Whare Tapere and kōrero

Shared kai

Aerials, performances, music and more!

Kanohi Kitea provides a platform for developing ongoing whanaungatanga, relationships and partnerships between Toi Māori practitioners, Whare Tapere and social circus artists.

Come along with your whānau, bring your curiosity, and get amongst it!

The Ōtautahi Circability Hub looks forward to sharing this special day of play with you. Please RSVP to christchurchhub@circability.org to let us know if you are coming, so we can work on providing enough kai for all attendees
